"If you love a closet being neat and organized, then love your things and take good care of them"
Sofia Ann
Everyday when we wake up, we reach for our drawers and open our closets for the day's costume. Sometimes we stay up to five minutes figuring what to wear.
I think that happens to everyone especially if you suddenly noticed that something in your wardrobe is missing and gasp - you need it today. Where could it be?
Let me share some sweet tips to manage your quickie time in the morning for work.
1. Your uniform
If your company is requiring everyone to wear dress codes for work or uniform - it's a big thank you actually. There's no need to think twice, switching looks from one attire to the other. In other words, it can save your time. Tailored suits and uniforms may be costly but only in the first flow of your budget. They would be used for a long time for their durability and they could save you more from buying casual office clothing.
So in this case, set a space in your closet for uniforms only. Do not mix them with other casual clothing for an easy pick. If you have drawers in it, it's smart to organize your belts and socks next to your uniforms. For ladies, your hosieries and other accessories.
2. Your shirt, tops and blouses
Okay, so you have at least four types of tops - with and without collars and those with collars but short and long sleeves. I think the most proper way of arranging them is by their style and not the colors. Hang each top/blouse in separate hangers according to their style. This way you can easily spot which you would like to wear or the best for the day. Hangers come in a variety of styles, colors and sizes. If you want a more sophisticated hangers you can buy those that are personally customized with lace and cushion.
Depending on the size of your closet, choose the best hangers that you can compress to make some more room or a bit of spacing in between. Thick and wide hangers are only good for individual hanging outside the closet, you know, something special for the coming party or wedding?
One of the best advice I could give you is to remove all blouses or tops that you're not wearing anymore - for the last two years? Say you gained weight or out of style or you don't like them anymore, get rid of them. Stop buying more and more hangers because maybe all you have to do is to see how many more of them are still very useful just that they're hung for years.
Old clothing, I mean all types, must be kept separately, given to charity or sell, your choice. What do you need them for if you're only going to stock them for another two years? Be brave, you don't need them anymore so just let go!. Your closet needs air and space too. More hangers then.
3. Bottoms
Single? Well, easy for you. Hang or pile them it's always your choice. For pants maybe according to type and color. Sure your pants have same lengths though skirts may vary in length and style. So for ladies, set a space for skirts only. But then, I think it's more proper that you hang your work skirt and blouse together? Say you have five pairs of these hanging in one area of the closet and could be next to your uniforms. While the all-time outfits can also be in one set of the closet, what's important is they should be piled or hung separately.
Spare a drawer for your socks or undies next to pants or skirts. Anything that goes together are much easier to locate especially when in a hurry.
4. Shoes and bags
Shoes and bags are my most favorite style of being a woman. Doesn't matter what brand or how much they cost. As long as they fits me and looking good with it, I'm into it. But, they won't go inside my closet because I'm not a celebrity, I walk everyday and my shoes are truly a busy thing, gets dirty and worn. So they stay in a shoe rack outside my closet.
Storing your bags in a box, suitcase or spare drawers will keep them from dust and dirt. Some people who have big closets and enough space for everything can hang their bags like a mini supermarket of bags. Bags and wallets can be in the same spot. Shoes may stay outside your closet in a shoe cabinet, if you have. The shoe cabinet can stay next to your closet.
5. Clothing basket
Whether you have a basket like this or the plastic laundry basket, they are both useful for disposing used clothes for washing. NEVER return back used clothes in your closet. No matter how good smelling still because of the perfume you sprayed this morning, it already has the bacteria that your body sweats out. This is one big no-no to cleanliness and to keeping your clean clothes fresh and bacteria-free.
Used clothes need to go to the laundry basket for washing - period.
An extra basket would be necessary for ironing purposes. Those washed and dried clothes need ironing next. So again, they must also be separated from the used ones. There is no necessary piling instructions for washed and dried clothes and used clothes. We only do the piling after they are ironed.
For some reason, some clothing need no ironing so just neatly pile them and put them back in the closet neatly.
Happy with those sweet tips? I hope so.
Have a nice weekend soon.
Love,
Sofia Ann
